    Elgato EyeTV 200

    by returntrip » Tue Oct 07, 2008 3:48 am

Any chance I can get this to work as an input w/ Modul8? It shows up as a device, but it isn't selectable, titled "IIDC FireWire Video". Any help would be appreciated.

I did that just now, and Quicktime doesn't recognize it at all. It only recognized my iSight. I'm going to poke around Elgato's site and see if I can find some drivers or some updates I don't have. Thanks.

it could be something as simple as having it set to digital out instead of digital in...

but if QT can't see it modul8 can't either..

    Hello returntrip,

I received my Elgato EyeTV TNT and it could not be used as a "video capture" device because Elgato is not providing a QuickTime vdig (video digitizer) driver.

Elgato is providing an SDK to get the video stream out of the EyeTV software. But we will have to write a EyeTV plugin + a vdig component for QuickTime.

If you want to capture TV inside Modul8, you will have to choose a video capture card that provides a vdig QuickTime component.

    Best regards.

    David.

I Think you have to buy a Firewire Cam like this one:

i think it should work so.

argh! i should have read this before going out to buy the only Mac compatible video capture device I could find!

this Elgato Video Capture dongle is now useless for me, tried everything and it just doesn't work. The only workaround is to use the v002 Screen Capture quartz composer plugin. But even that doesn't show up in Modul8. It does work in VDMX. I might have to install an additonal plugin to make it work.

damn. now to offload this Elgato and get a proper one.

    The short answer is NO

The less shorter is that Modul8 only handle capture device that have a quicktime VDIG driver.
