Nanopad Korg Kontrol Help?

Do you have any words of wisdom about how to assign korg pad control devices
We have a korg nano pad kontrol we wanted to assign the pads to turn layers on and off so far we got the pad to invert the layers via invert but the key stays orange. somple stuff? :-/
We also wanted to use the bpm feature in modul8 and count a beat in using tap but it seems erratic and over-clocks the bpm counter.... tap stays orange as if engaged too...
obviously because its sending more data and not just not on off?
Please help if you have any knowledge of this, it would be greatly appreciated...
