    Control of M8 from Logic

    by g4jon » Tue Dec 16, 2008 6:44 pm

    Hello
I did a show with a band and played movies in M8 using the DC-PLAY-STOP LAYERS PANEL. This worked great but I had a hand signal telling me when to press play. This can't be the most efficient way to do this. Can I sync Logic up with M8 so when the sequencer starts the movie starts. If it is possible could someone explain how the midi data is sent from one application to the other.
    Thanks!

Open your AUDIO/MIDI setup applicaiton in the Utilities folder

You can use either Airport or Ethernet system and set up a LAN.

In the Audio/MIDI application click on and open up the NETWORK
    unit...ready the manual.

this will allow you to send MIDI signals to an from different mac's, software etc.
via airport or ethernet. (I'd recommend ethernet for less hassles)

I'm doing this with Ableton but will do a full report later[/code]

The network is a bit tricky if you are not behind a DHCP router... If it's a machine to machine network, you'll have to configure your network preferences manually using the same sub-mask ips
