Layers or set of layers are going into a sleep mode....?

    by Bucharest » Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:21 am

    Hi...
I have this problem for about 4 months....on chanel A we got 8 sets of layers and on chanel B the same 8 sets of layers...so my problem is when I am not using for a while some of the sets on ch.A or ch.B they go into a sleep mode.Sometimes in a set maybe few layers are active and the other need time to get back online or sometimes there is no image in a set of layers and after 8 to 12 seconds or even more it's coming back to normal. On NEW YEARS EVE everything that I prepared ...the count down from 20 seconds down to zero and eventualy steping into the N.Y.E first of January everything went very bad for me ..I was late for about 8-9 of those seconds. So since then I start paying more atention to this problem and it is happening every time I am working at the club.I have the latest update 2.5.8 and I am running a dual G5 with 8 GB Ram a 10.000 rpm system drive and one raid zero 7200 rpm external hardrive with a fire wire 800.
So.... it is anybody having the same problems like me...any sugestions.....?
    Thank you..

I never had this problem. But "maybe" if your clips are located in different HD's. and you only use clips on one disc for a while, the "unused" disc might go to sleep if you haven´t set your disc´s to "never sleep" in preferences of your OS.

So I´m guessing that´s the 8-12 sec till they play. Disc is "awakeing"

    hope this help

    cheers

    Hi...
That's not the case I only use one hard drive in raid 0 configuration so I do not have a second hard drive ...and there is nothing to go to sleep... everything it worked OK but for some reason for a while I am having this problem.
