    3d/Anaglyphic/stereoscopic Output ??

    by freestylemovement » Wed Feb 04, 2009 12:07 pm

hi all, i was wondering if there is a hidden mode or plug-in/hack to get visuals to show up for 3d glasses... would be nice if there was a real-time effect.. anyone know?

You mean that would convert your 2D videos to 3D ?!? how could this be possible? Maybe it could be possible with the 3D things from modul8 (i mean particles, matrix, patch, Z scale/rotation/position) but not with flat video...

But there's no such plugin today... this has never been think about... Maybe one day in a far future this could be added..

getting anaglyphic stuff working well is almost a black art - ask us how we know...

once it works right it is very effective, but there are lots of issues (colour filtering, depth of field, ghosting, camera split and angle) to make sure are all ok to get it to work well.

Well I did figure out how to do live 3D, I will tell you after the 3D event in Denver. It appears we are competing for the event.

Well I got the gig and have no trouble telling what we are using (its on the flyer).

For 3D and decent results while being cost effect we chose CromaDepth. The technology does not require special codecs, filters, or video that looks blurry. Instead the images are clean, clear, and look natural. Did I say it is also the most cost effective?

Honestly the results are pretty slick.

it would be easy to do this in M8 if it had overlay modes.
    however it doesn't.
what you can do though is use Left and right clips with a dual head to go.
the red/cyan color is easy to fix in M8
just point both projectors at the same screen...

or if you really want to be clever, use polarising filters.

you're right deepvisual, this is the most common technique but of course you must have different images for the left and right eye otherwise you won't see any 3d...

Hi i've been playing around with after effects and anaglyph.

Very time consuming with mixed results.

Most of it ends up having depth but really just looks like a load of flat plates layered on top of each other which is what it is! Very hard to get graduated depth even when exporting left and right cams from a 3D package.

Ill be sure to come and check out the 3D disco at glasto! Were in either dance east or west i forget which! So i might have to come and chat to you! Cheers
