weird freeze

I'm preparing my set for this Saturday and I've just had the same weird thing happen twice which has never happened before.
Basically a clip (it's happened with different ones) is selected and after playing once the output flashes white once before freezing my mac. While trying to resolve this by clicking on things the main modul8 interface turned black and then the output image split into squares like a badly assembled puzzle.
There's no possibility of force quiting and a reboot was the only solution.
Any clues?

And it's just happened again. I add that this is happening with a single layer with no effects palying a pjpeg clip at 640x480. The only open modules are the bpm ones which I use all the time and have never caused any problems and the media set load one.

does it happen with any medias or every time the same?
I assume you use the 2.5.8 version but what computer do you have?

its happened with different media everytime and I'm using 2.5.8 on a macbook pro 2.4ghz with 4gb ram. I've started using version 2.5.7 and it's not happened again so far.
Cheers.

I'm back from the gig now and modul8 was rock-solid throughout (5 hours) but I'm intrigued about what was causing the problems.
