Hi,

I'm wondering is someone could suggest the best preferences for Medias.

At the moment it seems most media take 5 secs or so to load/play when
attaching them to a layer.

I have a MacBook Pro (2.2ghz) with 4GB RAM.

During my live performance I'm not running anything on the laptop other than Modul8.

I'm a little lost to what I should be setting the preferences in the 'Medias' tab.

Hello martyw79,

This is largely dependent upon the size of your media and what codec you are using.

Usually a file that is around say 10 to 50 mb. using Photo-JPEG compression will allow you to set memory preference to 'RAM preload uncompressed' then the triggering should be instant.

If your files are much larger then you might not have enough RAM for it to pre-load and in fact modul8 will default to 'RAM preload' even if you try to force the clip to 'RAM preload uncompressed.'

Can you provide me with more specific information in regards to your files? Their size? How many are you loading into your project?

Hi ilan,

All my clips are photo-jpg but the file sizes are quite large I guess.
They range from a 2mb to 200mb. It isn't a problem waiting a few
seconds for them to load (most are RAM Preload), I just need to make
sure the layer set is selected a few seconds prior to cross fading to
those layers.

I'm just not too sure what I should be setting the Medias preferences:

- When importing , a media is stored in memory when its size is less than:
- Start releasing medias when Modul8 uses more than % of the full memory:
- When opening a new project, maximum preload memory size:
