    rendering questions

    by workhouse » Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:12 pm

i can happily use logical record and export as movie of choice
but i am having trouble with recording fx like auto scaling etc,
that are being efected by external sound input
when i play the logical record back these are not included
    how do i record those?
    thanks again to all

yes, but be prepared to heavy CPU load. It seems that recording your VGA output scan converted to analog and captured by external device works better.

you could try screen capture apps like iShowU or BLACKOP GrabbeRaster or or this http://002.vade.info/?page_id=4
or some others. Sometimes these work surprisingly well.

thanks for the reply van ishowu looks pretty good
i'll do some tests and see what the end result looks like

Layer Local Logical Record would be the best
but it seems like it dosnt record animations effex , auto scale from sound etc
    am i right?
is there something i am missing?

It does record animation effects but not sound reaction as the sound is not present while rendering. The best way to achieve what you want is to record your video output with an external device ie: Dv cam, hard disk recorder etc..

    hi,

for the auto things, that works with sound in, I discovered this week that if you create a module that does the same (for instance link sound in to scale instead of using autoscale), the logical record will get all the values and when rendered it will use these values instead of the actual sound input it gets when rendering.

This kind of module is not so hard to build if you stay in simple stuff like auto move on X or Y axis (both needs a bit more of mathematics), or autoscale, for autocolor you'll need to work it a bit too otherwise you'll get something from black to white wich is not so colorful. For the auto alpha you can link it to the layer's alpha.

    Then for the patch I don't think there's a solution…

This is great news, Sigma6, but I wonder why sound reaction won't work the same with the main interface in logical render? Would be nice if it did. And how far away are we from getting A/V recording? Are the latest Macs capable of doing this? Would this be something to expect in version 3?

v3 is too far to know anything about rendering, but it seems some people get good results with a simple screen capture so I assume there's something possible here.

anyway, to answer your first question, the logical record actually records what's happening to controls, so a module that changes the scale slider is exactly like when you're using your mouse. But the auto things are intern in modul8, it actually doesn't change any value inside modul8 so nothing is recorded…

I know it's a shame, this is definitely something that needs to be reworked, but I'm not sure it can be changed before the v3…
