If you have the headroom for a second app, I guess Audio HiJack would do just fine.

No. Modul8 does not record the sound. As Jesper Fryd pointed, you have to use a third party recorder and add the sound track using an editing application.

Also, no, Modul8 does not mute the sound (unless you disabled it in the preferences or you set the sound out volume to zero).
