Hey! I want to connect my Sony Z5 video camera into the video capture function... but the only source option I can choose is the apple mac inbuilt isight camera!

Does anybody know how I can get around this problem?

Try first with Quicktime (7.6 not X if you are on SL) if you can get video in. I assume you know all about how to set up your cam. Any firewire cam should show up easy.

thanks for your advice... I tried to connect to Quicktime like you suggested, but there was no response!

I've got a sony Z5 video camera and a macbook pro... which requires me to use
Firewire 800 9P to Firewire IEEE 1394A 4P 3M... Do you know if this is compatible with modul8?

I think it is not the Modul8. It appears your mac does not reseive the feed. MBP should downgrade to FW400, but maybe the cable-adapter is weird for Sony.

I had some problems connecting a Canopus ADVC 55 to a MBP Unibody with a FW400->FW800 converter. I did not work. I then connected it through my tripple interface FW HD (LaCie Rugged 7200RPM) and it worked. So it could be the connector/converter that doesn't work propperly.
