    Alpha/Luminosity Bug...

    by gmint » Wed Aug 03, 2005 10:11 pm

OK, so I used M8 for a show this past weekend and had the strangest (and most frustrating) issue pop up. Now, I'm not ready to say this is a bug, per se, but I would certainly like to know what happened...

I use M8 with my BCR 2000 and it works great. The way I play I use invert and flash extensively. About half way through the night everything all of a sudden goes like to half brightness. Also, when I fade the level all the way up on a channel it would actually invert (or something) the image. Very weird. Fading the master alpha all the way up would cause the whole mix to go black. Also, the flash button doesn't work.

So, I quit and reopened the set I was working with. Same thing. So, I create a new composition, everything works like normal--until I hit the invert button. Then I get the same thing as previously described.

    Any suggestions?

Yes thats already happen to me a couple of times. Very bizarre beaviour in thez middle of a mix.
The flash and invert buttons control the invert color and add color faders. But sometimes the faders stay stuck in the max position even after releasing the flash and invert buttons.
If only one of the 2 stay stuck you get your output inverted or Flashed. Its easy enough to realize whats going on. But if the 2 stay stuck together you get a black output. And by dragging down the master alpha you get back to 50% visibility and then back to black...
Just put all invert and add sliders to the max to check that out.

And obviously if that happens again all you need to do is drag the sliders back to zero ;)

I had thought that was what was happening (as I have noticed that behavior in the past--it also happens sometimes with the speed not resetting when using still) but I couldn't seem to figure out which damn faders to set back. I guess it was just the heat (literally-as we were outside) of the performance...

Thanks for the confirmation so I know I'm not going crazy. Also, maybe we could have this addressed in an update?
