im trying to use reason and modul8 at the same time. i have an m-audio axiom for reason and an akai mpd 26 which is inteded to be used for modul8. when i have both running, there seems to be a conflict where both midi controllers are effecting modul8 (only the keyboard is working in reason which is what i want). is there some sort of device list in modul8 so that i can disable the axiom?

M8 preferences allow you to choose what controller is for M8. Or get Midipipe to sort the controllers.

does this mean that only one controller can be used at the time ?

I am using an Hercules DJ RMX and I am planning on buying an M-audio UC33 to use both together to control M8.
Would that be impossible ?

No.
But you need to know what will be the note or control numbers and channels that these devices send.

Hello Barto,

by default, Modul8 is receiving all the MIDI messages that pass on the MIDI bus.
However, when in MIDI learn mode (Mapping | Edit Midi Map) :
- you select an UI element
- you send one MIDI message (control, note, ...)

So you have to configure your MIDI devices to send only one message at a time when in learn mode.

This could be impossible with some devices, so we added an ignore option in the Preferences (Modul8 | Preferences... | Key/Midi Mapping).
There, you could uncheck the "enable" checkbox to stop receiving MIDI messages from the specified device.

Regards.

In M8 preferences. there is a key-midi tab where you see all connected midi devises. You can uncheck some if you like. To use multiple devises you need to program these to send midi at least on different channels or use midipipe to reroute signals the way you want.

Ah. Those options weren't available in the previous release modul8
