Spread video content over multiple screens?

    by Mobius » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:40 am

Hello everyone, I am completely new to M8 but find it to be quite valuable in what I am trying to accomplish.

Here is the problem. I have tried to search the forums and did not find a match to what I was looking for.

I have 7 projectors (all the same). I am able to send video to all 7 projectors without any problems. Works great. What I want to do is split the video so that it will show as one video across multiple screens. On one wall I have 3 projectors and the other wall I have 4. I want to be able to spread a video across the wall with 3 screens to make it look like one big screen. I am not asking about the edge blending, as I all ready know how to do that. I am asking how to split the video to send each part to the 3 separate screens to make one large image.

I hope you understand what I am asking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

    Matrox TripleHead2Go does exactly that.
Search for this keyword and you find the way you need to set Modul8 up.

    Multiple screen video...

    by Mobius » Fri Sep 24, 2010 8:47 pm

Hello. I am aware of the TH2GO, but maybe I should have been more specific. I have a Mac Pro with 8 video outputs. I run 7 to the projectors, and one for my control.

I think that I read somewhere about cropping video and using the layer position module to spread video across multiple screens. Can someone please explain to me HOW to do this?

Thank you very much, I think this software will work great for my club and will be a valuable asset.

    use the advanced output settings.
then either stretch one movie across all 7, put 7 movies up there or use the matrix to create repeat images.

    Hello Deepvisual

I love your information by the way...

I have tried to do different "clips" on each of the 8 outputs, but get the same image across all eight. Maybe I am overlooking something, but I can't even get it to place a different image on each of the eight screens.

I use the "advanced output", and where it asks for the various clips to each output, I choose clip 1-7 on outputs 2-8. But when I do that, I just get 7 clips stacked on each other, and only the top clip shows on all the screens.

Do you understand what I am trying to explain? Do I have to save the original clips somewhere? or is there an adjustment that I need to do? I have been looking through the manual and through the knowledge base, but cannot seem to find where it state "how" the clips are determined for the advanced output. Do I drag and drop the clips into that field?

Thank you very much in advance. I still think this is a great program and probably one of the most versatile that I have found. I just really need to learn more about it.
