Playback issues

I am having trouble playing back a 720p clip (filesize: ~2.3 gig). The codec is h.264. preload to disc. The only filter i use is the perspective change, to projekt on an angled surface. The video wont run smoothly (actually it is VERY choppy).
My hardware is: mid-2010 Macbook Pro i5 with 4gig ram. The files are stored on a raid0 connected via firewire 800, so throughput should not be a problem.

The strange thing is, that when i try to playback a small part of the clip (~100mb; still same codec and bitrate) it runs smoothly.
This is what i dont understand, since absolute filesize should not be a problem with modul8.

I would very much appreciate if someone can help me out with this one.

Thx,

Try to use Photo-JPEG codec at 75% as this is the codec we always recommend when applying effects etc.

I had serious trouble playing h264 files this week-end… photojpeg saved my life! Some times ago I thought that the hardware was good enough now so you don't see any difference but I was wrong… h264 is very slow to decompress and the media stutters…
