Does modul8 support multiple cores? Does it matter if I have multiple cores, or is it not really any difference?

In most cases multiples cores are not the issue. The speed of the CPU however does make some kind of difference.
However the main reason for having a MacPro is the graphics cards you can put into it - you just don't have the same options on a laptop.

So have a close look at what card you put into your new machine. The gpu and the amount of VRAM is really what counts.

Also for us, we use MacPros all the time because we do multi projections with all slots filled out with graphics cards.

So what are the best graphics cards for use with modul8 and matrox triplehead2go?

I´m buying a Mac Pro in a couple of days but have a couple of questions regarding:

1. What is the best GPU card for use with modul8 and matrox triplehead2go?

2. What is best between ssd harddrives or a traditional harddrive raid (with raid card) I saw on the apple store there is no hardware raid for ssd´s, but does that matter?

3. Would I be better off choosing a quad core, than an 8 core if it saves me alot of money?

1. Generally, the more Video Ram you have on your video card, the better.

2. SSD drives are amazing. Your clips will load a lot faster. But be aware that you will still need to keep them small so that they will all fit in RAM. That said, if you do have a clip that streams from disc, this will be a lot faster.

3. Go with the quad for now, unless someone begs to differ.

Just to keep in the records:

Recently I ve setup a MacPro Quad, 4GB Ram and 2 ATI 5770.
This cards has 3 outputs each. Then I did
1 monitor thru 1 Display Port
3 projector thru the others 3 Display Ports
2 TripleHeads thru the others 2 DVIs (6 outputs)

TOTAL 9 outputs using Advanced Output + 1 to monitoring.

4 SATA HDs 2TB each. Movies are balanced thru HDs - no RAID.
Total movie size 5760x480. It works smoothly.

I will try change the DP to another 3Head DP Edition. I ll keep you informed.
