i need to insert 2 cameras (or 3) into modul8 running on a macbookpro, what is the interfase or equipment i need to be able to see and use them?
i'm doing great with one camara via firewire but now need more.
i know processing would be hard, also, recommendations for a good small camera that i can place up on truss.
the addl camara will be far away so i need to convert the signal,
etc. many questions.....

i need help as i'm spec'ing a job, am learning as i go, would appreciate any support!

You best way would be a DV/Firewire input along with a USB input. You can only ever do one Firewire input at a time, and once your use more than 1 USB capture device you will need to lower the incoming resolution to fix both feeds down a USB2 bus.

you can do 4 firewire at the same time, but you cannot do more than 1 DV cam at the same time. Depending on your setting, 4 firewire inputs can be quite heavy to manage for your computer

Thank you guys!

great info, been reading up, getting clearer for me.
question: is there a way to convert signal from mixer out to Firewire800 input on the Mac to M8? i would think this is faster, less latency.

thanks again!

The best/simplest/cheapest way would be a DC60+ and a video glide license. $US45 and being that it uses USB you can leave your Firewire bus for an external harddrive.
