Unusual use of Modul8 for theatre performance

Hi, I'm planning a stage rig for a touring theatre production and would appreciate a little help with the gear if possible.

The plan is to use Modul8 on a macbook pro to project onto a main screen and perform live video mixing to cues from the actors and audio people. Now, that's easy enough but there's an additional screen on each side which we will need to project onto separately.

Ideally I'd like to be able to send 3 separate outputs from Modul8 to the 3 screens using 3 projectors. I need the 3 outputs to be independently mixable. In other words I need to be able to fade video between group A and group B of one output for example, but not effect the other 2 outputs. Is this possible using Modul8? Or do I really need to lug 3 laptops around with me?

Cheers for any help

Tom

A triplehead2go and carefully using your layers would work. You wouldn't be mixing between different layers but changing their opacity. The biggest limitation would be you would be limited 10 clips total to choose from before have to change layerset and/or clips per.

you'll be wanting a midi controller for this.
you wont be fading two layers at a time with a mouse

Thanks for you lightening quick response!

I thought that might be the case... Unfortunately the limitation is going to be too constraining with regards to the kind of mixing I'm doing. I reworked the design a bit last night and may be able to use just 2 laptops (2 Modul8s) and have the third projection come from another source such as a portable media player.

Cheers
