images not accepted - colour bars and noise

Hi,
I'm preparing a performance with 4 projectors, so I made movies of 5120 x 720 pixels
(photojpeg), and try to import them in Modul8. On my MacBook Pro (2,66 Core 2, 4GB 1067 DDR 3), they are playing, but not smoothly. When I try to import them in Modul8 on a desktop (2 x 2,8 Quadcore, 4 Gb 667 DDR 2), they don't play at all. I get to see only colourbars, noise... (making a copy of screen shot)
The same file in 2 seconds (32Mb) is working (only preloaded uncompressed, not directed to disc), a file of 15 seconds (330 Mb) shows the image for a few seconds, and then goes to black, the same file with 30 seconds (650 Mb) is not loading at all, and shows only this noise instead of the image
I tried both preload and direct to disc..., Modul8 uses more are less 70 % of CPU... tried also other formats like H264, AIC... Nothing seems to work, and I'm getting out of inspiration how I could try to solve this, I hope you can help me !
