why does the installer wipe out all my modules if i upgrade

i know why, it copies the new folder over the old folder deleting them, so i have to download them all again. but why? surely there is a better way to install the new build? is there any way to restore them? why do the old modules get installed as well like bpm global, when there are newer versions in the module library?

    Weird!!!???
When I get latest 2.6.3 it comes as a folder containing M8.app and Modules and Plugins folders. I just either drop just the M8.app to my previous Modul8 folder or if I want to keep the old I just rename the Modul8 folder. Then I can take any modules from that folder and add to the new Modul8 Modules folder.

it comes as a dmg with a shortcut folder inviting you to drag the new folder into the apps folder, overwriting everything. i should know better, but the way it launches is silly, for it makes life difficult, after it is done.

Yes that's why there is an advise written in the DMG :
"If you have a previous installation of modul8 be sure make a copy of your modules before you drag the folder"

The bpm global is up to date, it's the lastest version from garagecube.
There is a mod made by someone else in the public library.

you're right it does say that. my fault really then, but wouldn't it just be easier to have the modules in another (user defined) location?
