"save project" saves hardly anything than the medi

    by p8guitar » Thu Dec 29, 2005 1:43 am

When I save a project, none of the layer settings or effect settings are saved. The only thing that remains from my work is the information which media were loaded into the media panel.

I hope this behaviour is not by design but an user error, because this is the reason why I don't use Livid's Union no more - I have to start from scratch every time I open the project that I'm working on.
Please tell me I'm doing something wrong... :(

Do you have your settings in the preferences set as "Save to Document" or something?

Unfortunately I cannot find preferences that deal with saving. I only see "media", "video capture" and "key/midi mapping" in the preferences.

Did you call "Save Map As Defaults" from the "Mapping" menu ? You have to call this function to save your mapping preferences.

Check the page 33 (also page 36) of the documentation "Midi and Keyboard" mapping for more informations.

Also: Mapping preferences are not saved to the documents unless you set in the preferences under "Key/Midi Mapping", "Use Document Configuration".

You misunderstood me,Yves. My problem is that when I reopen the project, there is only one layer, and the project is in default state. All layers, effect settings, transparency settings and so on are gone. (But the media panel is still filled with the correct media.)
I cannot think of a reason why it should be helpful to set all settings to default when a project is saved? Then why save at all? :?

I think I have found the problem. The project that could not be saved properly had a media loaded in the media panel that wasn't accepted or detected correctly. It was a quicktime "movie" without picture, only sound in AAC format (see my other post...).

This movie confused everything I guess. I assume modul8 continuously tried but couldn't load it, this prevented the project from being loaded correctly.

    Sorry I missed some messages...
Yes a quicktime without picture can cause problems.

But what version of modul8 do you use (is Important) ?

    Thanks.
