Firing clips over a "default" video?

    by Raketemensch » Sat Oct 15, 2011 6:05 am

I'd like to be able to set up a default movie, or set of ordered clips, to play straight through.

Once this default stuff is playing, I need to fire off short clips (I have the tech to do this via midi or osc already), and have playback return to the aforementioned "default" list/movie.

    Is this possible in Modul8?

    Thanks.....

The SlideShow module will play a specific group of movies in a loop.

Do you need this to happen automatically on launch for the purpose of an installation?

It doesn't need to start on launch, I can trigger it, but...

Is there a way to trigger a second clip, then have it return to the original list, already in progress?

    Thanks!

The easy way to do this would be to have a layer above it that you trigger on and off that hides the layer using the slide show.

If you want the layer with the list to show a specific clip or the last clip that was show when you activated the top layer, you will likely have to go into the SlideShow module and hack it a bit so that the following happens:

    - Stop the slide show
    - Turn on the layer above
    - When the top layer is turned off turn the SlideShow on again

I apologize for such a basic question, but I'm still working out whether I should pick up the app, and haven't been able to test it too much.

When you say "slide show," are you talking about still images, or can those be videos as well?

The module is called 'SlideShow' and what it does is that allows you to step through each media slot like you would do with any basic presentation software. The media that occupies the slot selected will be displayed and that can be any media be it still image or movie.
