    Projector problem

    by boerke » Tue Oct 25, 2011 5:41 pm

    Hi

i'm pretty new to video mapping and VJ stuff.
I have a problem with my projector, the surfaces that i want to have completely black are lit up with a very soft grey light.
This means that i always see a big grey box around my projections !
in the video below you can see an example, you can see it best when the line turns red.

I want to get rid of this box and make it completely black, can someone help me ?

I believe that has to do with the contrast capabilities of your particular projector. When you buy a projector it will tell you how black the blacks are for your particular projector, usually with an equation that looks like this 1000:1. The higher the first number, the darker your blacks. Cheaper projectors don't have true blacks most of the time.

Mine costs 700 euros and its a DLP.
I don't know what a dlp is or if it has anything to do with the blacks not being black.
