Hi,

I'd like to send visuals from MaxMSP with midi via the IAC driver, so that I can use Modul8 to projection map the output from Jitter, but can't see where to set the IAC as midi input into Modul8. I've looked at tutorials online and they state to go to Preferences>Midi Mapping and select the input from a drop down menu. But in version 2.5 there is no option for this, only Default / Document Configuration (the guy in the tutorial was using 2.6).

How do I set this up?

You need to set up MIDI with OS X System app Audio MIDI Setup and keep just one device on top priority(or available). Modul will choose that one.
If I remember right obviously.

I just did a quick test. I made simple Note sender with Isadora and set communication to IAC. I opened M8 v2.5.10 rescanned for MIDI devices and the note maps just fine. Without need to go to AudioMIDI at all. So if your MAX/MSP is set up correctly you should have no issues.
