Matrox DualHead2Go Query

Hi,

Just a quick question. We have a dual projector set up and wish to purchase the Matrox DualHead2Go splitter. As we are using a Macbook Pro from mid 2010 with a Minidisplay port, the Matrox site recommends we use the DP version of the splitter. However, does anyone know if we can still use the Analog version with a Minidisplay port to VGA adaptor from the Macbook instead?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Simon.

Unfortunatley no, the DP version is exclusively for digital and won´t work with VGA for example.
I had the same inquiry, since I had a one machine outputting through DVI to VGA and my newer one outputting Minidisplay port to VGA/DVI/HDMI. I bought the "digital version" for its flexibility > http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/produ ... ductTabs=4

Cheers from Honduras!

hum…
yes you can use the analog version using mini displayport to vga but you won't be able to use it full resolution… I think you can only use the 2x 800x600 resolution.

And the DP edition allows you to output VGA too using displayport to vga adapters but it's not very stable (it doesn't output properly at startup, you have to disconnect/reconnect the adapters manually…)

Thanks for the advice.. We've actually gone for the DP version in the end so hopefully there shouldn't be any issues :)

Hi,
how did this setup work for out you, especially with the DP/VGA adapters?

I would recommend the Triplehead2Go digital over any displayport specific model - there have been reported issues with VJs and HCDP errors on shows. The digital TH2Go model is more useful as it has both VGA & DVI input (so works on any laptop, not just MBP's) and will do 2 or 3 screens - so can be a dual head or a triplehead.

Also, I can also confirm the DP models will do VGA output quite happily using DP->VGA adaptors like these - http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Display-Port ... 1e6f85aa83

mmmhhh.....
The Matrox site lists only the DP-Edition as being compatible with my mid-2009 MBP...
cheers

I use analogue version of DHTG, mini-display port-vga adaptor from my macbook pro 2010.
works ok.

Ignore the Matrox site - your computer is definitely compatible with all models of DH2Go/TH2Go. The only possible problem you'll have is running 2x 1920x1080/1200 resolutions as they require the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to reach that resolution.
Otherwise every other resolution will work via VGA or DVI mini display port adaptors.
