    MIDI mapping question

    by louis_marino » Fri Apr 27, 2012 2:16 pm

I'm trying to map 9 sliders on a USB midi controller, to control the opacity of different layers. Currently, I can only map the sliders to the active layer. There is a mention of different mapping modes (active layer, layer set, per layer) on the module8 website but I can't seem to find this in the preferences or mapping options.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

. check the Documentation.pdf that came w/Modul8 - what you're looking for is above the video size, x/y/z rotation, etc.

Hi James, thanks that's done it! (Set it to layerset+position and made sure the maps in 'focus' and 'position' were blank).

Also, you may want to set a "default" MIDI mapping that is mapped to your controller already when you make a new set?

    see manual for that also

My idea is that maybe you are trying to map your computer keyboard to Midi map.

Tried it and keys do not respond in M8, not even for mapping them.

did you choose your midi device in Pref>Keys/Midi Mapping?
and do you choose Midi Map under Mapping? Edit Keys Map is for your computer keyboard.(you talk about up and down arrows suggest that question)

Well, this is strange, I opened an old set and the keys did function, saved the midi keys and opened a new project and now it works.

And yes, ofcourse, I was choosing key map. Anyways, thanks!
