Official Statement? Modul8 on YouTube OK?

I haven't been to this forum in a long time, but that's partially because Modul8 works so well, I haven't needed help.

I have a YouTube page, and I sometimes post VJ sets that I have done there using Modul8, etc.

YouTube's IVP program allows you to "monetize" your videos ( you get a tiny bit of money from the adds they have on the page ),
but to do this, you must be able to claim permission for the content that is in your video.

That's no problem for me, because most of my VJing is with 100% original material,
( and I ask permission of musicians, etc. that may be involved as well )

Believe it or not, they challenged my ownership of a audiovisual set that I had entirely made myself,
with Modul8 and other programs. I'm going to appeal it!

They have a checklist for various items appearing in a video:
one of these is "video game or software visuals" -

This seems obvious, given the purpose of Modul8,
but could we please have an official statement from you to give them?

As registered users of Modul8, we have permission to use it's output
in our A/V works and live performances, correct?
And feature it on YouTube, DVD's etc.

( and it is okay if the program UI happens to show up in our performance recordings, right?)

Thank you very much.

Thank you for bringing this to attention. I will make some inquiries about it.

Really, all we need is a statement to the affirmative? and / or a Garage Cube email address we could give them for confirmation.

YouTube has gotten tighter about what they want posted on the site,
due to complaints from TV networks etc. about kids randomly posting entire episodes of current shows and such?
or songs from newly released albums, etc.

Unfortunately, it has inconvenienced actual creatives like us, who actually own,
or have permission to use the content we post there! ;-)

its almost certainly the audio that is the problem...

I made a pop video for a well known band and youtube pulled it even though I had permission to use it. So don't expect miracles.

I think I know the video you mean.

Well, miracles CAN happen ...sometimes! I have appealed their marking of my videos a couple times and WON! So it's worth a try, if you have the justification.

For now you can probably refer them to this forum thread where I will state that as an official representative of GarageCUBE we permit people to post content created using our software.

I suggest using vimeo instead. It doesn't have the reach of you tube but there's no silly issues like this and your videos will be amongst quality content rather than random sh*t

Thank you Ilan! That's what I wanted to hear.

( Actually, I often prefer compositing things in Modul8 to After Effects, because you can see the results immediately without waiting for a render - it can be a tool for recorded video as well as for live performance. )

I have a Vimeo also, but YouTube is still the leading website for streaming videos. They now support full HD quality if you upload it that way.
