    Two USB Webcam Issue...

    by gmint » Mon Jul 30, 2012 8:09 pm

I haven't had an opportunity to really use live video input in Modul8 before (other than just playing with it for fun) but I did have a need for it this past weekend and I encountered an issue. Basically, I purchased a little Logitech webcam (a C520 or something close to that, I can't recall exactly) and it worked fine in Modul8 (UVC compliant so no drivers necessary). So, since I wanted to do a couple of different angles (on a DJ), I purchased a second identical cam. Stupidly, I only got the second cam just before the show, and despite being able to see it in Modul8 and apparently assign it to a second video output, I could only get one cam to successfully assign to an input. Basically, I could assign either cam A or cam B but not both.

Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

Very common problem. Cameras must be different make. It is the issue of OS X. There are exceptions to this however. Search for multiple live feeds on the net.

I suspected that was the issue. I'll probably just get a different make of cam and avoid any hacks/workaround weirdness...
