    9 outputs?

    by FLEXno » Tue Nov 13, 2012 7:26 pm

    dear m8 crew,
please advice how i should prepare technically:

i need to syncronize 8 projectors and of course i need 1 monitor.
modul8 supports 8 outputs in "advanced output" menu, right?

should i get a mac pro tower with 9 outputs? (i've never seen this)
or should i get a mac pro tower with total of 4 outputs and connect 2xtripple heads? (i never did that)

    thanks for your help,
    f

the triplehead or dualhead option looks like the only way to achieve what you want to do. You might be able to find graphic cards that allow you to output 9 different outputs but then as you said, modul8 will have some trouble outputting on more than 8 (7 if you want to keep modul8 interface visible on the main screen…)

    thanks for your quick response.

do you think it could work like this:?

the projectors linked through a mac with two grafic cards. which means 2x3 outputs that are connected like this:

    grafic card 1:
    out1: monitor
    out2: projector1
    out3: projector2

    grafic card 2:
    out4: projector3
    out5: projector4
    out6: tripplehead : projector5, projector6, projector7 (projector8 will be a mirrored image of projector7's output)

    = 9

i am afraid the multi-monitor-management wont understand those proportions.
    what do you think?

it can work like that but be careful… these graphic cards with one DVI and 2 mini displayport are a bit tricky when it comes to have a display on every outputs. I had problems connecting everything in DVI. You will only be able to connect everything in VGA I think.

For the triplehead, you can set your clip to ratio 4/1 and it will work.
