Issue with mapped area moving in Modul8

    by balancelighting » Mon Jan 28, 2013 4:44 pm

I use Modul8 in tandem with MadMapper. My workflow is as follows:

I map my surfaces with MadMapper. I'll then map in Modul8 using the Perspective Transform Module. This allows me to place different content on each surface.

The issue I'm having is that it seems that my "perspective" changes when new clips are loaded. I find the mapped coordinates seem to jump around. I'm not sure if this is due to clips of different resolutions or what. Is the perspective based on the native resolution of the video clip or the output resolution of Modul8? I would assume the later but I could be wrong. I'm converting a chunk of my clips to a standard resolution now to test but I was wondering if anyone had encountered the same issue.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    change your workflow.
you'll find it a lot easier if you use madmapper to do what you are doing in M8

It's not possible to do what I'd like to do in MadMapper unless you know something I don't.

If I want layer A1 in M8 to display on Surface 1, layer A2 on Surface 2 and layer A3 on Surface 3, I have to render those clips to those surfaces in M8. Madmapper then manipulates the projector's output.

How can I assign different layers to different surfaces in MadMapper?

making everything the same size is going to save you a lot of trouble, as different sized clips will surprise surprise, be different sizes when you add them. using the normalise option will get around this to a point, but you'll still struggle with different formats like 4:3 and 16:9

te-c I've tried that angle but it makes it a bit difficult to then span all surfaces with a single clip. I need both.

    Thanks for the tips dudes!
