    Performance issues

    by morph » Tue Feb 12, 2013 1:18 am

    I have 2 laptops running M8

One is an old MacBoook Pro 3,1 (2.4ghz Core 2 duo, 4gb ram, geforce 8600M GT, regular HDD) running Leopard with Modul8 2.6.1. This unit plays atleast 2-3 layers of HD (1280x720) content mixed with SD, stills, etc just fine.

The other is a MacBoook Pro 6,2 (2.4ghz Core i5, 8gb ram, geforce GT 330m, 240gb SSD) running Mountain Lion with Modul8 2.6.5 (and 2.7). As soon as I try to play more than 1 layer of 1280x720 content the framerate chokes, even though the system monitor on my machine says I still have plenty of spare CPU and RAM.

The clips are all PhotoJpeg @ 75% and are the exact same clips on both machines, can anyone tell me how I can fix this or what the issue is??

    Cheers

Are you sure you are not running off of the Intel card? Check your energy saver settings in the System prefs.

OK have switched that option off but wouldn't have thought it would effect performance when my laptop is plugged in.

Thanks for the tip and will let you know how I go :)
