    by rodriguebernard » Tue Feb 19, 2013 1:58 pm

    Hello
I have a problem with recognizing the USB ENTTEC pro.

    Computer: macbook version 10.5.4

The driver does not appear in module 8 when I ds preferences / dmx / ENTTEC usb pro.
The interface is well recognized by the USB mac when I go to about this mac / usb.

Enttec utility does not recognize the interface and does not offer connecting virtual ports

1, When you have the files. Dmg with drivers on his desk. What should be done then to install?

2, can do we know what com port associated with the USB ports?

    Thank you for your feedback

    Hello,

You should not use D2XX drivers but VCP (virtual com port drivers). They could be found :
    http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

This is for the ENTTEC DMX USB PRO.

Here are the steps to ensure that you FTDI driver is well installed.

    1) plug the ENTTEC DMX USB Pro on an USB port (one with enought power to drive this device)

    2) verify that the driver loads after plugging it in using Applications|Utilities|Terminal
    mac-pro-de-david-geldreich:~ dgeld$ kextstat | grep com.FTDI
    114 0 0xcd0e9000 0x7000 0x6000 com.FTDI.driver.FTDIUSBSerialDriver (2.2.14) <99 38 12>

    3) verify that the device is seen :
    mac-pro-de-david-geldreich:~ dgeld$ system_profiler SPUSBDataType
    ...
    DMX USB PRO:

    Product ID: 0x6001
Vendor ID: 0x0403 (Future Technology Devices International Limited)
    Version: 6.00
    Serial Number: ENQEJNRZ
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: ENTTEC
    Location ID: 0x1d100000
    Current Available (mA): 500
    Current Required (mA): 300

    4) verify that the driver created a /dev entry :
    mac-pro-de-david-geldreich:~ dgeld$ ls -al /dev/tty.usbserial*
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 10, 6 21 jan 15:22 /dev/tty.usbserial-ENQEJNRZ

    5) open Modul8 | Preferences | DMX
select ENTTEC, the device listed above, receive mode
    go to Modu8 | Info | DMX
you should see the serial/firmware version of your decice

Hi, I cannot make the DMXUSB pro work w Modul8.
I have to the best of my abilities tried to follow the directions:
installed vcp driver (64bit) and the DMXPro is visible in system report as well as in Modul8: pref and info.

The DMXPro works fine with Chameleon software, but not with Modul8. The blinking light of the DMXUSB stops and it does not transmit any signal.

    My setup:
    MBP 10.8.3, Modul8 ver 2.7 (serial 8n307-16-5-5ed38-38bde-dgd9g-381c3-81ccg-e3)
DMXUSB pro and a couple of DMX controlled lights (Plano Spot 7TC)

It seems I'm the only one having this problem, so it's probably just me who did a mistake, anyways I would be real happy for some help, thanks. And thanks for Modul8, such an inspirering piece of software!
    All best, Morten

If the DMX USB Pro is visible in Modul8 | Info panel, be sure that you have chosen "Send Mode", then be sure to send to the right channels.

Send mode it is! So that's unfortunately not the solution
Also the same channels work fine with Cameleon.
    Any ideas???

    Hi all!

I've spent a good few hours trying to solve this problem as well. I was using Max 5,6,7 and Madmapper and the device isn't being recognized. So in preference, dmx output, it would show DMX USB Pro option but if I click on it, it won't show me any actual device that's available (ie. enttec). Same in Max as well.

My solution was to update the firmware for my Enttec DMX USB Pro!

    go to this link:
    https://www.enttec.com/?main_menu=Products&pn=79003

on the right hand side, download the Pro Manager. I'm on OSX10.10 so I download the second newest one.

install the package, and go to Application, find Pro Manager (if it doesn't show up, try unzip the package and reinstall again, happened to me)

and it should open up in a browser (ie. safari)

select your device, and then update the firmware. and then you can test it there as well on DMX output, fader, and test the channel of your light fixture.

    after this, restart your computer.

my issue was solved after these steps.

    I hope this helps!
