. a question about clip size...

    by anomad » Wed Jun 10, 2015 3:30 am

. i've been doing a lot of work w/640x360 video clips but they don't appear 'full screen' (outputting HDMI 720p)

. i have preview set to 16:9 ratio and the output window sized at 640 x 360, but I still get a black border around the clip - anyone know why ?

the normalize button fits the media in a virtual 4:3 stage… it doesn't care about what you chose in the preferences… yeah… I know…

    . interesting.

. even if I don't have normalize checked, the 640x360 video clip appears the same size as the image I posted. if I set the scale to 0.67 then it will appear as full screen.

. if i bring in a 1280x720p clip, I need to set the scale to 0.34 for it to appear full screen. if I click normalize it, then it needs to be scaled up to 0.67 to be full screen.

. that doesn't make a lot of sense.

modul8 is horrible with HD resolutions in my experience.. anything that's not a 640x480 square clip requires a lot of tweaking/scaling to look right

. well, as best as i could figure out - even when i have the preview window at 640 x 360 i would need a clip that was 854 x 480 to be 'fullscreen'

. not an ideal solution, but workable.
