Control MiniMAD playback with motion sensor?

I'm interested in using a MiniMAD for a video installation. I'd like the video + sound to be activated by a motion sensor using Arduino, and I'm wondering if it would be possible to hook this up to the Raspberry Pi guts of the MiniMAD in order to do that. I'm not very experienced with Raspberry Pi, so any advice on how that could be done would be appreciated!

Several users already have turned the miniMAD into a mediaserver by connecting an Arduino Leonardo to it.
The Arduino will simulate keyboard actions (through the miniMAD's USB port) in response to Midi, DMX, or any other signal that can be handled by the micro-controller.
Interestingly, miniMAD version 3 will feature two new playback modes: play once and blackout & play once and freeze, which will make setup like yours even simpler (First beta is available for a few days).
