Here's a simple tip for people how works with fade transitions.
when you wanna fadeout to another clip it's easy but when you wanna revealup a clip with the transition fader you can't.
the solution is to create a short empty movie with a transparent background (use a quicktime animation codec)to use as a dummy movie for the fade in transition .
