    Tip: Creating a reflection effect

    by VJnutcracker » Fri Jun 08, 2007 1:25 pm

To create an effect where a clip looks like its floating over a glass floor...like you see with the album art on iTunes

    1. add a layer, and play a clip, not full screen, place it so the bottom of the clip is about halfway down the screen
    2. Duplicate the layer, flip it so its upside down
    3. move layer 2 until its top almost touches the bottom of the first layer
    4. adjust the alpha of layer 2 until the desired relection is required.

Very sweet, here's a variation I used earlier today....

Using a set up very similar to your description, but using 5-7 layers, several of which were using transformer in the sphered grid (very low settings), I set the individual layer alphas to almost nothing, (barely anything on the output view). I then dropped the master Alpha, clicked the record master, then using the master trace output on almost full, slowly raised the alpha master and from almost nothing multiple spheres and planes began to emerge... Gonna drop the rendered into flash create to a floating avatar... Hope you have fun with this.... -Luminaut.
