    use movie as alpha layer

    by wickedmartin » Sat Feb 07, 2009 1:24 pm

    hi,

i am very new to modul8 and playin around with the demo.

is it somehow possible to use a black/white video clip as a layer mask or alpha for another layer?
kinda like the "alpha lines" filter in the "filter (layer)"-modul, but not just with lines but with a movieclip.

check out my illustration, i'd like to be able to change layer1 and layer2 on the fly with the mask-movie always applied. is that possible?

    thanks for the info,
    martin

I think it is not yet possible but it could be made with a freeframe effect for basic shapes.

It is definitely possible to make as a Quartz composer file.
But then you would have to specify the media in the Quartz file itself.
It would be nice to have in modul8 as a filter so you can select your movie and mask movie on the fly.

If there was a layer mask instead of global mask that might work pretty good.
