    multiple audio outputs

    by dolf » Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:50 am

    Hi,

For a theatre piece I have to play clips with stereo audio plus a 3rd channel out for a clicktrack.
    Is that possible with Modul8?
I use a Digi-002 to have multiple outputs on the Macbook.
I thought of making the clips with dolby 5.1 audio, but does Modul8 recognizes that format?
    Or is there another way?
    cheers,

    hey

it is possible - we did a show recently with 4 projectors running from a TH2Go (2 of them were daisy chained) and quadraphonic audio all from a single macbook pro. We used an external Mackie fireware soundcard. The key is prepare your audio tracks and then use compressor but rather than dolby surround you can use a quicktime surround.
The method we developed required first rendering all the different audio channels into a quicktime surround sound file then importing this into Final Cut pro adding on the video and then exporting this again as a motion jpeg .mov with surround sound. worked really well - only other thing to look out for is changing your project settings in Final Cut Pro to the correct number of audio channels
