    crop all layer identical

    by neils » Sun Feb 14, 2010 12:36 pm

    Hallo,

I'm working with young people at a theater project and we have a big problem which we hope somebody can help us.
Because our projection is to large, we have to crop all our compositions (in all A/B layer) identically in high. How is this possible?
The "multiple layer crop modul" dosn't work, because our media does not have equal size and so the crop function don't work identicaly on each layer.
The "normal crop modul" does not allow to type exact values.

What's about the global mask modul? How daos it works? Could this modul maybe do what we want?
We don't want to make a mask for each composition. Is there an easy "global way"?

Thanks for the help and a short tutorial.

PS: For theater projects it would be helpful to lock all layer settings. Maybe an idea for the next update. Do you know when a new version will be release?
On the whole, we are really satisfied with modul8. It's a great tool. Thanks.

The easiest way to do this is create you mask Photoshop and to dedicate the top layer to being a mask of all the layer below it.

The ability to lock a layer will come in a future release.

We just released 2.6 in November of last year so the next release may take place by next November.

    Thank you for your compliments.

    Use the mask module.
It uses a special layer that is not accessible if not by a module.

As ilan said, you can create your mask in photoshop or any other image editing software. Save it as a PNG with alpha channel so you can apply it over everything in modul8 using the mask module, your composition will be seen through the transparency of your mask.
