This may be a rather too simple question to most users here.
I saw a great gig excerpt on garagecube blog:http://vimeo.com/13325766

I tried to do something interactive like that but then found the clip is either loop or for once only.
How to set M8 to play each clip (but not in a loop mode) as one trigger the individual clip?
and obviously not by turning on/off the layer.

. maybe try setting the loop to play once, then every time you want to trigger it set the ctrl_layer_movie_positionIn to 0.0 (it will restart the clip)

- Set playback to 'play once'
- Bind the pad to trigger the clip as clicking on the thumbnail in the media set always re-triggers the media

No need for a module.

Just make sure that all of your clips begin where you want them to begin.

this was the answer he gave me on his vimeo clip when i asked him about the process

this an idea I've been having for 10 years or something but now I could finally do it! my chain is:
logitech rumble pad
connected to a max 4 life patch that translates it to midi that triggers samples in ableton live and the midi also trigges clips in modul8
very simple but effective!
