Merging layers using direct output

I have search the forum for a solution for my problem, but I found none
Please excuse me if this topic is repeated.
The question is: Is it possible to merge layers into one in modul8?
I would like to add new layers to my coposition from a real time camera without loosing previous layers. I mean the following: add a layer, another and so up to 8, render a video with direct output of that 8 and reload it again as one layer to keep on adding layers.
I am facing 2 problems: first, if I play for and hour, the rendered video will be too big! and second, how do I synchroniza a rendered video to keep it making sense with the new ones?
So, is there any way to do this or something similar using modul8?
