    movie thumbs in OSX

    by Donleavy » Thu Apr 06, 2006 2:24 am

    Hey there

It is annoying that OSX doesn't make a preview icon of your .mov files. It is much easier to navigate your clips when the icon shows you show the first frame of the movie.

Here is a freeware program to create video thumbs:

you can also use another finder such like Pathfinder from cocoatech

it's very useful coz in addition to the thumbnail preview you have a complete info box and a tab style navigzaiton for your finder and a very useful dropbox. have a look at

I use iview media pro (cost a lot of money  ) but you can drag files directly from the thumpnailview into Modul8 and it is great for organising clips.

I am now using the killer combo of CocoaThumbs and Pathfinder and find it really makes finding and adding clips much easier.
I haven't tried Leopard yet, so I don't know how much that improves things...

    Leopard works great with that!
And with file sorting (adding keywords) I use Adobe Bridge, but now the finder in Leopard is really good as well - especially in conjunction with spotlight
