Edge blending

Hi,

I'm going to do a long horizontal projection and planning on using 3 projectors. The last time I did something like this the edge blending with Madmapper/Modul8 was so complicated by using external png file etc I ended up switching to Resolume in the last minute. I personally prefer Modul8/Madmapper and wondering if there is any easier and quicker way to do the edge blending. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks a bunch in advance!!

Hi ,

have you tested "blendy" ?

http://www.blendy.in/

it´s a syphon app that makes edge blending easy .

and did you read this thread ?

http://forum.garagecube.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4771&p=23188&hilit=edge+blend#p23188

But: I did not check the latency on this.

hop this helps you ...

and i think i read that their is a Quartz composer composition for this purpose.

Thank you for the suggestion. I checked out Blendy and it looks good. I was hoping that there is a way to do that with the existing tools within Madmapper or Madul8.

that´s what garagecube says.

and you can do it within Modul8 but it´s not plug and play.

here´s a tutorial for that too:

i´m not sure if this Tut was posted in the previous thread.

Edge Blending used to be an "Art" before there where computer.
And it´s still a Job on it´s own.

I usually let this to an technician.

hope this helps

maybe i'm cheap, or old school, or maybe i'm just lazy... but i tend to take a roll of masking tape and then put a piece so it covers one edge of the projectors len(example left side of lens) ever so slightly in order to soften the edge then do the same on the other projector(right side) so they line up together with the softened edges so as to create a soft edge blend on the screen... also i make sure there's a bit of over lap in my slices so its the same part of the video getting softened on both projectors(or more if i'm running more then two together)

MadMapper has had this function for over a year.
