Feature Request: LaserFX for Lottie and SVG animations too

    by mw/mf0 » Mon May 06, 2024 9:16 pm

    Hi,
as per subject line: the ability to apply LaserFX on Lottie animations (or SVG image sequences) would be a great additions.

LaserFX are such a useful tool to take animations further, in a way that makes sense specifically for lasers and for live performance! And the possibility to code them oneself allows for a sweet combination of classic timeline animation (via AE) with coded distortion.
    In short: really great thing!!

(So far LaserFX are available on Laser Text Surfaces, but not on Laser Text Generator, are available on Images, but not on Image sequences, are even available to the glitchy-by-nature live tracer, but not on laser materials - in short it feels a bit arbitrary. I guess it would be fantastic to always have them at hand.)

    Thanks,
    Marcel

    Maybe it isn't completely clear:
Benefit is an entirely vector based workflow!

You could apply effects (coded, with parameters for live shows) to pre-made media (Lottie animation from e.g. After Effects) - and stay in the world of laser vectors!

It's analogue to a classic vjing/visuals performance approach: use pre-rendered media as basis and apply effects on top. Only in this case without pixels that need a live tracer..
Thus you could work with the strengths and limitations of lasers waaaayyyy more specifically and get more stable results!

    Can we please have this?
