Using 2 Firewire devices - Camera & External Drive for C

    Hi

First can i say congratulations to all at Garagecube for your fantastic software, love it.

I just wondered if anyone has noticed any slow down in performance when using an external firewire hard drive for clips at the same time as a firewire camera input.

My setup is Intel Core 2 Duo Imac 17, Smartdisk Crossfire Drive, Sony PD150 Camera.

    Thanks in advance for replies.

    Col

Hi - I guess a little performance hit is to be expected?
It shouldn't make too noticeable a difference I'd have thought especially with your Core2Duo.
Have a look under Preferences/Video Capture and play with the various settings if you haven't already done so.
I use a G4 iBook 933 with 300gb plus ext. Lacie firewire drive for all clips and regularly have either an iSight attached or video camera via a Canopus ADVC-55.

Well decompressing a live feed takes time. Now the question is what do you mean by slow down ? Also what is slower ? Movie content ? Animation ? Filtering ? User-interface ?

Modul8 is heavily multithreaded, so to track down a problem we need to know exactly what is slower.

i was referring to slowing of frame rate from the clips played back from the hard drive and a delay from the camera, because both data travelling via the firewire bus
