how do you guys keep track of your layers?

I've been working on a monster osc controller, however, for all my buttons and faders, i find it hard to keep track of what is on what layer. im planning to move through the banks of the layers through the progression of a set, and have groupings of animations together in each bank.

how do you guys keep track of your layers? is it possible to have 8 different layers output in a thumbnail for the loaded tracks?

i've only been using this program for about a week and im just so impressed with it. i've been building my controller using a monome and lemur and it feels like these devices were born for modul8.
