    external hard drive?

    by mannikin » Tue Jul 05, 2005 5:14 am

    Hi,

    I'm using my Powerbook 15" 1.5ghz with Modul8. This PB has a 5400 RPM drive. Is this enough to run the media, or do I need an external HD (firewire or firewire 800) for my media? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks;
    J.

    That's what I'm using. It works quite well as-is,
    but might buy an ext. HD for even better performance (many layers, hi-rez)

    Question: Can you get faster performance by using clips
    off two HD's simultaneously? or does that "confuse" the machine

    If you are streaming clips that are too large for RAM off the hard drives, they should benefit from a dedicated hard drive per clip, since the hard drive will not have to seek more than one stream at the same time. As a rule, don't use the application's drive for streaming video.
