    VGA

    by zangeena » Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:59 am

How do I get a picture on my television using a vga to component cable? I tried connecting my computer to my television with a vga to component cable and it didn't work. It looked like a scrambled cable channel. To make things worse, all of a sudden my laptop display seems to be stretched out. Can anybody help? Thanks.

. well, if it's something like this :
    http://www.amazon.com/CablesToBuy-Perfo ... 567&sr=8-1

. then those are meant to convert rca/svideos to VGA - some video cards support sending analog signals sync'd to RCA via the VGA plug - but the mac isn't one of those systems. (see the comments at the end of the aforementioned page)

    . if you're using a an older macbook/macbook pro w/DVI out - there's a $25 adapter that sends out RCA and svideo

. if you have a newer mb/mbp (w/display port) i *think* you need to go to vga then convert that to NTSC - i use one of these : http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Co ... =pd_cp_e_3

    . good luck!
