    Layer set contextual

by The Midi Thief » Sun Apr 03, 2011 11:51 am

Is it just an odd wish of mine, or would "Layer Set Contextual" be a useful function in Modul8?

    Interesting approach since there's a layerset+position midi/keyboard mapping
i'd love to have a local dictionary for layerset like the InDict/OutDict but it would be tricky since there are a two groups of layersets. and i'd rather like to get a sort of Data Cloud where every modules could share info and messages without using module.getSharedDictionary()

a statement like that could do the job for layersets and intermodule data communication
    module.broadCastMessageToModules('broadcaster','message', [params])

or get another Block to handle inter module messages

Direct communication between modules would be a very valuable addition. I dislike having to leave scripts running in the periodical, just to constantly listen out for changes in the sharedDict.

Anyway, on the subject of additions - how about a better way of saving modules rather then having to actually quit M8! The hours of work I've lost because I haven't wanted to go through the whole quit/restart thing, and then tested a mod that's crashed. (on the plus side, hours of work can usually end up with only a few lines of code, but it's still a pain to have to redo it all.)

How about Modules/Save all changes (Shift+cmd+s)? Works for me. I also save new versions of my modules after big changes since I've have had weird corruption of the code in the past.

No way! I swear that wasn't there before... The amount of times I've looked at that menu and missed it, must have been looking in the file menu?
Wow. That's cool. Cheers Mike. I'm never quitting M8 again! This is gonna save me loads of time.

Hehe, no worries. If I just had a penny for every time I've overlooked something in menus...
