    Sync between Modul8 and Dataton

    by markz » Mon Apr 11, 2011 2:52 pm

    hello to all,

I have a question about how to get sync clips within modul8 and dataton watchout..

I'll trigger clips from modul8 with midi controller, so is it possible to route midi signals to dataton? or any other suggestions

    thanks in advance
    cheers,

You need to provide more details. From your brief description I see you can mean at least 3 things. All of which are widely different.

    1. You have a Dataton Watch Out system and and Modul8 system running the same videos and want them synced.

    2. You want to feed your Modul8 system to watch out.

    3. You want to control Watchout from Modul8 via midi.

All of the possible questions beg the same response "Why". Why would you need Modul8 if you have a Watch Out system? I can see maybe you want live reactive stuff but come on a system that expensive and you can't make your layers ahead of time.

    hey thanks for your response,

I'll try to explain more clearly..

there is a big movie file will play on the dataton watchout but this movie file is different from the modul8 clips.. on the modul8 there will be 3-4 layers mapped onto some objects..

the video-sound equipment company dont have the capture cards so i cannot send visuals via modul8 to dataton.. to sum up i have one clip for dataton and three clips for modul8.. they have to start same time (some latency wont be a problem)

Auxiliary Timelines resemble the main show timeline in WATCHOUT. The big difference is that an Auxiliary Timeline lies dormant until you call it into action - manually or by an external input. Use an Auxiliary Timeline as a backup track or for a quick escape to other show elements if you suddenly have to change tack midstream. Or trigger an Auxiliary Timeline from an external input to interact with your AV show as it runs.

External control is your gateway to interactivity in WATCHOUT 4. Use MIDI or DMX512 signals as inputs to trigger tasks and control tween-tracks in your WATCHOUT show. Output DMX512 to control lighting channels and other devices, or send arbitary data from WATCHOUT to other systems or devices via TCP/IP, UDP or serial data protocols. A simple but practical example: send commands to the projectors in your WATCHOUT rig to put them on standby.
