Most basic way to projection map...several questions

    by ken.geary@honeywell.com » Wed Aug 31, 2011 11:18 pm

    Helklo all,
I've been researching PC solutions to projection mapping and hitting my head on the wall. I do not need a full VJ program, I just want to render out a video composed in After Effects and mapped to a live stage hard set as follows:
One computer (Mac, which I need to purchase)
    One 16K HD projector
HArd set made up of 40"x60" white foamcore boards, attahced at 90 deg angles in zig-zag pattern, stacked 4 high ( about 36' wide by 13' tall)
Video template would basically be a flattended out version of above within a 1920x1080 quicktime movie.
I just need to load in clip or clips have some basic control on satarting/stopping clips and be able to very easily map during setup day using Mad Mapper. So, seesm I'd set my grid in MM to 10 acroos and 4 vertical then deform from there on my set. My confusion is MM seems to load in square images? Can it handle HD aspect image or do I have to scale it first? IS this program better than Resolume w/plugin 9which i couldnt figure out how to use) or TextMAchine 3d? (limited success, got vey close with basic 2 foamcore test set). Can I run 1080HD quicktime using MM on a Mac MINI??? thanks!!

MadMapper supports any resolution size. It will run the video providing your computer can handle the bandwidth of the clip. I highly recommend you download the demo as it will provide you with the insight required to understand the programs capabilities fully.
